This is the first post on what will hopefully become a running blog on interesting questions and findings in visual sciences. Occasionally, we may even take a detour into other interesting areas of research when relevant.

But first, let me introduce us! CogNeVision is a lab group led by Dr Alice Nevard, in order to research the cognitive neuroscience of face perception and vision sciences more broadly. The aim is to create a cohesive research group where expertise and ideas can be shared, and new collaborations can be formed.  We want our members to feel like they belong to something bigger than just the institution they happen to be at; a team they can take with them wherever they end up in the world. 

At its core, CogNeVision's focus sits within neuroscience and vision sciences more broadly. We are interested in building models of the visual world and how we process visual stimuli. Currently, we have a central focus on face perception, from detection to recognition and learning. But this in no way limits the scope of research.  As the lab grows, we want to stay genuinely open to the wider visual system: attention, scene perception, and the many other ways vision shapes cognition beyond faces alone. 

Nothing too formal, nothing too frequent. The plan is to use this as a casual space to discuss research and ideas. We plan to discuss research we find interesting- from papers to conferences; if it caught our attention, we may dig into it here. We will share our ideas in progress, such as early thoughts and questions we are chewing over before we implement a proper study. This is also an opportunity to present new findings, whether that be research from our own lab or a recently published paper.
